Google Docs Stock ImagesThere are situations in which you want an image to supplement something you have written and it is simply impossible for you to capture that image yourself. Perhaps it is the wrong season of the year or perhaps you need an image image of an object or scene not available near your location. Those offering writing software or services sometimes recognize this issue and provide images you are welcome to include in your document. Microsoft Word, for example, comes with a "clipart gallery" you can use. Google docs now offers "stock images" for your use. The phrase "stock images" has a somewhat ambiguous meaning for me in that I tend to associate the phrase with a service that provides images at a price. The Google images are available at no cost and it appears Google will continue to expand the image collection it curates. This linked video offers a description of how you can locate and use the Google stock image collection. Note that the stock images provided by Google offers a free resource when copyright issues are a concern (see Chapter 9) |
