{"id":572,"date":"2005-09-15T16:12:09","date_gmt":"2005-09-15T21:12:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/studytools.psych.und.nodak.edu\/wordpress\/?p=572"},"modified":"2005-09-15T16:32:23","modified_gmt":"2005-09-15T21:32:23","slug":"stuff-in-the-back-room","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/learningaloud.com\/blog\/2005\/09\/15\/stuff-in-the-back-room\/","title":{"rendered":"The stuff in the back room"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I find the trend to digitize the collections of libaries, museums and other organizations which accumulate &#8220;stuff&#8221; truly amazing (e.g., <a href=\"http:\/\/studytools.psych.und.nodak.edu\/wordpress\/?p=112\">National Archives<\/a>). At one point, early in this process, a curator explained that you can see many things online that you cannot see at the museum. I did not truly understand this until I had the opportunities to interact with the staff of the ND State Historical Society because of grants and wonder about a bit in the storage areas. (See <a href=\"http:\/\/www.state.nd.us\/hist\/tah\/index.html\">People of the Upper Missouri<\/a> &#8211; a recent project developed as part of the Teaching American History grant awarded to the Grand Forks Schools).<\/p>\n<p>I was reminded of this again today when I read a post promoting access to the digital resources of the <a href=\"http:\/\/uwdc.library.wisc.edu\/\">University of Wisconsin<\/a>.
